A lovely steamer appeared in the Flickr LEGO Trains group today. Andrew Harvey (Flickr user technoandrew) presented his rendition of the Peppercorn class A1 Pacific steam locomotive Tornado.
What's unusual about the Tornado is that it was built just recently, with the completed locomotive rolling onto the tracks in 2008. You can read the full story of the prototype locomotive on the website of The A1 Steam Locomotive Trust at www.a1steam.com.
Andrew's version of the A1 is presented in its original factory paint. The lines and overall shape represent the prototype beautifully. While most steam builders have to present models of old, retired locomotives, technoandrew has shown us that steam is far from dead.
